UV

UV based Ozone generation creates ozone when a UV lamp splits oxygen molecules passing through it at a frequency of around 185nm. But these won’t produce higher levels of ozone.

It’s found to have greater significance with respect to disinfection from the time it was discovered over a century ago. But it requires greater levels of ozone to put actually into useful application with regards to disinfection or oxidation or any properties it may be associated with.

Electrolysis

Electrolytic based ozone generation in which ozone is generated through electrolysis process where pure water decomposes in to Hydrogen and Oxygen atoms. Oxygen atoms then recombine to form Ozone.

This process ensures stable and high purity ozone generation. It has its application for pharma pure water where there no be any associated by products. This will give higher ozone concentration levels but it cannot be used to treat higher quantities of waste water and it’s a costly process.

Corona Discharge based ozone generation

Corona discharge is the earliest and easiest method of ozone generation.

The corona discharge process is just the same way as that of lightning where we generate it artificially when air around an electrically charged conductor is ionized under high voltage condition. Ionization causes to split incoming O2 atom to recombine with other oxygen atoms to form an unstable bond to create Ozone.

Not all the oxygen supplied through a dielectric won’t convert in to ozone.
